Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

epot at Queensferry

AANOTHER stage in British Road Services' long-term planning for increased operational efficiency has been reached with the transfer of the North Western Division's North Wales branch from Bretton to a new depot at Oneensferry. The site covers an area of 7.345 sq. yd. and holds a key position on the North Wales coast road. The premises will be officially opened today

by Lord Rusholme. • There arc an office block and .modern canteen facilities for the staff of 123, including 85 on the operational side. A warehouse, 114, ft. by 60 ft., incorporates a' covered outside loading bank. This provides storage space for several hundred tons of goods.

The depot is scheduled as a service station for preventive maintenance in the area general seherne, and the workshop has been built to allow for enlargement.

The depot fleet of 61 vehicles and 69 trailers includes eight mediumand 19 maximum-load tractor units and 60 semitrailers. There are also 29 eight-wheelers, five medium rigid vehicles and nine trailers. The tractors are all of Leyland and Atkinson make and most of the rigids are also Leylands, although there are sorne Albions.

In addition„ the depot operates four tankers carrying chemicals and tar acids o2 for a local concern. This work was formerly done on `f flats" with superimposed tanks.

The main traffic outwards is steel sheets from John Summers, Ltd., Shotton, and fibre from Courtaulds, Ltd. There are trunk services to London, Dunstable, Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield and the north-east fitting in with the district pattern. North Wales traffic is channelled through Queensferry from Warrington, Liverpool and Manchester.

Bretton, although only six miles away, is in a country district, whereas Queensferry is in the heart of the Dee-side industrial area. Vehicles now avoid the long, steep Hawarden hill to the steelworks. As traffic is mainly to and from Dee-side or the Wirral, much empty running is also being saved.

Traffic handled by the branch in 1957, which was not a good ,year. exceeded 130,000 tons.

CHOICE ON MOTORWAYS

SERVICE stations selling only one brand of fuel will not be built along motorways, a Ministry of Transport spokesman said on Tuesday. Plans provide for stations about every 12 miles on sites for which local authorities will invite tenders for leases from companies ready to sell different brands of fuel.
