• The head of MAN has siarnmed'EC environmental legislation as "not fair, or justified in its objectives". Speaking at a press briefing for the Frankfurt Show, Wilfried Lochte attacked current environmental legislation packages as ill-thought-out, saying "it's necessary to get legislation that can be supported by the whole of the market".
Nonetheless, MAN is pushing ahead with a series of environmental measures designed to reduce engine noise and exhaust emission leveb.
Lochte says that MAN will not buy into the Spanish truck and bus builder Enasa despite rumours to the contrary. "MAN is talking about the future possibility of increasing contracts with Enasa but there isn't much more to it," he says.
