Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I REALLY must take exception to the comments (CM, June 29) by Mr Bolton of the TGWU on Citizens' Band.

Surveys conducted in the USA show an average saving of 15,000 lives per year attributable to CB. CB-ers avoid accidents in the first place, and when involved can contribute a drastic reduction in emergency service response time. There is also evidence of a 5-8 per cent reduction in fuel use due to avoidance of holdups, and obtaining local directions.

The US government has issued an official policy statement, co-signed by the FCC. ICC and Department of Transport, actively supporting CB, and instructing all government departments to promote its use.

Anyone who dismisses CB as an "expensive toy" is an illinformed fool. CB is even more relevant in UK because of the congestion.
