WORK is proceeding on draft regulations to require compliance with new EEC braking standards for lorries, and comprehensive regulations are also being prepared on carriage of dangerous goods by road, reported Transport Minister Norman Fowler in the Commons last week.
He noted that other measures under consideration included the recommendations of the Foster Committee, while safety aspects of the lorry would be among the matters considered in the independent inquiry into lorries and their impact on the environment.
