Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Freight Transport Association is warning hauliers planning to work in Turkey to get in touch with it first.

The RHA has an International Group which has more than 250 member firms specialising in long-haul trips. A spokesman says 'We are well aware of the _potential problems and firms can come to us for advice from our members who know all about the various pitfalls. The main worries are usually breakdowns, border troubles and bent officials."

If drivers do get in trouble abroad the RHA will get in touch with sister organisations in other countries in a bid to solve the problem.

And a Foreign Office spokesman says the British Consul is always available to intervene in disputes. The FO has no specific guidelines for truck drivers travelling to Turkey. The RHA spokesman says : "It's usually the small, owneroperators who get into difficulties. I would say to them, come to us first so you don't travel unprepared."
