Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Mr. Julius Wallach, the S e ii i o r managing Cif Co.'s Loss, director of the SternSonnehorn Oil Co., Ltd., has passed away. He had been connected with that. concern for upwards of twenty years, and was universally liked and respected. The business vilI continue to be conducted as hitherto.

The proprietors of an internal-combustion engine specially suitable for commercial vehicles Agent Wanted. are open to receive applications for an agency for London and district. It is necessary that the applirants should have a show room and garage. A demonstration chassis and sample engines will be placed at their disposal. Communications addressed to me, at this office, will be forwarded.

The end of this week will bring us to the Edinburgh Motor Show, and I First 1910 meeting many old Show. friends there, be

muse the exhibition in the Scottidi capital always seems to attract a great gathering of motorists. Amongst the business-vehicle exhibitors, and their allies, I find the following : Albion Motor Car Co., Ltd.; Gas Lighting Improvement Co., Ltd. (Mice Spirit); Maudslay Motor Car Co. (1907), Ltd.; Shrewsbury and Challiner Tyre Co., Ltd.; 11. Stewart and Co. (1902), Ltd.; D. Stevenson and Co.; Belhaven Engineering and Motors, Ltd. ; James ROSS and Co. (Scotch motor spirit); and Lynion Wheel and Tyre Syndicate, ftd.

At the last Manchester Show, a large stand was taken by Commercial Cars, Ltd. but it h

Sowing this was decided not to Year. occupy it, at the

eleventh hour, because of some action or probable action by the s.m.m.T. No such contretemps is possible this year, as Commercial Cars, Ltd., is in a position to show " wheresoever, whensoever and howsoever " it will. The exhibit will be in the charge of the Lancashire and Cheshire agent, Mr. T. P. White, of 26, Bridge Street, Manchester, a very live personage by the by, and in all human probability it will consist of

a four-ton lorry built to the order of the Co-operativo Wholesale Society, Ltd., of Manchester, a char-a-banes built to the order of Messrs. J. Steadman and Sons, of Doncaster, a chassis ordered by the Radcliffe Motor Transit Co., and a 30-cwt. vehicle of the " Braintree " type—a goodly selection.

A notification I caches me, from the International Time Recording Co., of City Road, E.C., " Time Teaches that the Austrian Many Lessons." Government Dock yard, at Pola, has just installed 37 two-colour card timerecorders. There seems little doubt that these card systems are most valuable in workshops. E noticed that the " International system had been installed in a certain motor factory, a few months ago, and I asked the question if these card systems really paid for the outlay. I had a most enthusia.stic reply in the affirmative.

In Bristol, last week, I heard that the Continental Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd.. was about Continentals opening a depot Newest Branch. there, and, on my return to town, this report. is amply confirmed. Business in South Wales and the west of England demands a stock depot, and by the 1st of February, 63. , Victoria Street, Bristol, will find the Continental installed with a large stock of tires and accessories, and prompt deliveries can be confidently looked for. The latest testimonial to this company shows that it is making much headway with solid tires for commercial purposes_ The North British Motor Express, Ltd., write: " We have tried all the best-known t:res on the market, and as yet have had none that can compare with Continentals."

There is always a soft corner in my heart for a whilom colleague, by name Mr. William Anning, A Former who was a few years Colleague. ago a representative

on the business side of our sister paper " The Motor." On Tuesday next, he joins the Russian Tyre and Rubber Importing Cu., Ltd., that being the title of the English House, established in Shaftesbury Avenue, for the sale of the wellknown Prowodnik tires, for which Mr. Gleish is the English head and forefront. It will be a new departure for Anning, to sell tires, and he should succeed. It is soon discovered, in conversing with him, that he is highly intelligent and has acquired a wonderful insight into the needs and necessities of motor users; he has, moreover, an infinite number of well-wishers, including the writer of these lines. He is a worker, and—which should help him—he possesses all the urbanity and persuasiveness of a parliamentary candidate!

The Hillman-Coatalen Motor Car Co., Ltd., of Coventry, has changed its name to the Hillman Motor Car Co., Ltd. As is well known, in addition to pleasure cars, this company is making a business vehicle on very sound Another change of title is that of the Simms Manufacturing Co., Ltd., of Kilburn, to the Simms Magneto Co., Ltd.; the latter name has been used for trading purposes by this company for quite a while, but. for an obvious reason, its business being now devoted exclusively to magnetos, the manufacture of motor engines, lorries and boats having been given up, the change is made. The ordinary newspaper channels will convey the information that the Simms Magneto Co., Ltd., is in voluntary liquidation, but this is merely a formal process, in order to secure the alteration of title: the status and capital will be the same as heretofore, and Mr. Fredk. R. Simms will be at the head of affairs.
