Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Two experimental projects, designed to demonstrate measures which could improve the operation of bus services have been approved by the GLC's planning and transportation committee. The projects emerged from the Working Group on Bus Demonstration Projects which was set up by the MoT in January 1969. Both GLC and 'London Transport are represented on the Group.

The first project is a "contra-flow" bus lane in Seven Sisters Road, Islington, while the second is a series of measures to improve the operation of bus route E3 from Greenford to Chiswick.

Mr. Robert Vigars, chairman of the committee, said: "The Group were asked to consider what can be done in the short term to facilitate the operation of buses in cities, either by changes in traffic policies or by different kinds of bus operation. The bus lane in Seven Sisters Road is designed to enable buses to drop their passengers nearer the shopping centre in Islington.
