• Glagow Corporation municipal transport committee will oppose the Government proposals for the establishment of a Passenger Transport Authority to serve the Greater Glasgow region. The committee accepts the need for co-ordination of all transport undertakings within that area but rejects the plans which, it is said, would mean that the largest passenger undertaking in the area—the Corporation of Glasgow—would have a minority voice in the operation of any system which was decided on. There is the further question of the assets built up by Glasgow Corporation over the past century. Assets could be worth £10m and the transport department is already in debt to the municipality as a whole to the tune of £7m,
