Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

14-day respite

• Drivers of passenger vehicles, including p.s.v., have been granted a brief respite from the new drivers' hours regulations, which were due to take effect as from Sunday (March 1). Since Parliamentary consideration of the Drivers' Hours (Passenger Vehicles) (Modifications) Order, which was laid in draft on January 28, has not been completed, the Minister has re-laid the Order with the date of commencement amended to March 15.

No changes to the provisions of the Order, (see pages 38-44) are being made. However, the date of implementation of the new regulations, with respect to the drivers of passenger vehicles, has also been put back to March 15 to coincide with the Order.

• The Modifications Order was the subject of a debate in the Commons on Wednesday evening (see story on page 29).
