Time for all CVs to be accountable

In the issue 6-12 August 1998 of your excellent magazine, the "Caught in the act" feature on page 3 caught my attention. I think this video clip only states something I and many more have felt for quite some time, ie all commercial vehicles should be under the same regulations. The vehicle in question is not a lorry (one of which is shown in the last frame, in its correct place on the road) but an unregulated box van. These are not controlled by drivers' hours or regulated by operators' licensing rules.

Off the top of my head, looking at the four frames only, I would suggest this accident may have been due to the driver falling asleep at the wheel.

Isn't it time these small commercials were brought into line with the safer, regulated commercial world? DW Wickham, Thetford. Norfolk.
