Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

of the British road transport industry before the mad men of Whitehall execute it. There is little doubt that Brussels will have its way in due course.

In 1990 (and that's only twoand-a-half years from now) the EEC hopes to have 'harmonised fuel taxes and introduced 'free' competition among the hauliers in the Community.

This means the legalisation of cabotage and the final nail in the coffin of UK haulage. Write to your MP, trades union representative, transport manager, the AA, the RAC etc so that increasing pressure can be brought to bear on the paper gnomes of the Dip to abolish Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), more commonly known to the public as road tax.

Keep up pressure before British haulage is killed by the total indifference and apathetic incompetence of the DTp.

Remember, 1990 is only two-and-a-half years away. The continentals are waiting for your jobs. Unfair cabotage can only result in massive layoffs, the dole and the gentle mercies of the DHSS gestapo.
