Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

" We -keep extremely busy " was Mr. Barritt's exclamation to me, when I looked in at the factory of Hoffmann's Steel Balls, at Chelmsford, last week. This is good hearing, at a season of the 'year when business is on the slack side.

Negotiations are going on for the purchase of the Hartridge tire by a substantial and well-established London firm. If these are completed, the tire, which is according to all accounts an excellent one, is sure to be energetically pushed.

An old motoring friend of mine, that is to say he has borrowed my motorbicycle from time to time and returned it very much the worse for wear, went off the other night with a book into which he had clipped at my place while waiting for the weather to clear, and he returns it with some illuminating comments On the contents. He evidently does not know the nature of my notes in this journal, because fie goes on to give me authority to make use of these precious outpourings ef

his providing I decently cover with anonymity his name. I will return good for evil; I will just say this— that, if anyone wants photographs or enlargements of photographs for trade purposes, that is for show cards or the like, the gentleman referred to is lite man to do it. I recently saw, at the Rover Motor Company's London dcpot in Oxford Street, some excellent enlargements of his, and he has done satisfactory work for us at this office. The name is—Mr. S. H. Fry, of 5, Highbury Grove, Highbury, London, N.

Quite lately I have made the acquaintance of Mr. J. W. G. Ross, and he interested me exceedingly in his preparation " Boilerine." He showed me some remarkable original testimonials one of which was from Mr. Thomas. Clarkson, of Chelmsford, another from Messrs. Thornycroft's, and a unique letter from a boiler cleaner who formerly had a regular job to clean a Galloway boiler three times a year, but who now is only required to clean it once in the

same period. A sample has been handed to me, and I hope to give this a practical trial.

Mr. W. E. Rowbottom, so long associated with Dr. Lehwess in the Motor Car Emporium, and his later venture, the Electrobus, has, I understand, left the service of that gentleman. I have come in contact with Rowbottorn a good deal in the way of business, and he has always impressed me as being a very capable, level-headed man of unvarying courtesy, and a rare one for work.

Mr. Martin, of Martin's at Bow Bridge, has had a severe bout of illness, and has been confined to his home. He is now about again, however, and it is to be hoped the recovery is permanent. The business established a few months ago has progressed very steadily, and a good selection of secondhand lorries can always be net with ; new bodies can be built on the premises, if the existing one does not satisfy the particular requirements of the purchaser, and, so, mostly everyone can be suited. Martin's, Bow Bridge, E., is well worth a visit.
