Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

because whereas biodiesel only uses the oil from the plantand sometimes from just the seed biomass is a gas-to-liquid system derived from rotting the entire plant. This gives us an exponentially larger yield from crops that will produce the stuff.

Bioethanol will address the petrol market. The first production plant has come online in Norfolk and more are planned. So far the big petrochemical firms have made no moves in the UK market, denying biodiesel a wide audience. They are watching the market carefully and experimenting with crops overseas, but are not yet ready to launch a product.

Some commentators note that because there is a UK shortage of diesel, Shell, BP, Texaco et al are happy to tolerate biodiesel, a rival product that has distinct limits and can only wash around the edges of their beach.

But Bioethanol will hit at the heart of their market, is popular with politicians and will use the substantial wheat surplus that the UK has trouble offloading annually. It can also be produced from sugar beet. So it may be bioethanol that finally motivates the big players to get involved.
