Open house
• Lincolnshire-based Translinc will stage its second annual 'Ride & Drive' on Saturday 10 June. The day will include fire and safety demonstrations and exhibitions, and there will also be the opportunity to test a variety of vans and coaches. All local authority employees, and anyone directly affected by the activities of Translinc are eligible to attend.

Dutch freight
• The seventh Rotterdam Freight Show will be held next month from Tuesday 9 May to Friday 12 May. For the first time the show will include a conference, organised by Lloyd's of London, based around the theme of European Mullimodalisin in the 90s and beyond.

Focus on IT
• A Transport Telematics Conference will be held on 5-6 June. It will include the fifth bi-annual RTI Focus Seminar and discussion of the results of the National Technology Foresight Panel for Transport. Transport Telematics is the use of information and communication technology in a wide range of transport applications including navigation, traffic control systems and freight management.

Top tyre fitter
• The date of this year's NTDA Tyre fitter of the Year competition has been confirmed as 20 August, coinciding with the Truck Driver of the Year competition.
The competition will be held at the MIRA testing circuit near Nuneaton, Warks, and further details will be confirmed in the next few weeks.
