A YORK COMPANY which had previously been warned to be careful over its drivers' records was fined £950 with £100 _costs by Preston magistrates after one of its drivers had been found to be keeping duplicate record books.
W.D. Mark 8.E Sons Ltd, with a depot in Preston, pleaded guilty to one charge of failing to maintain a register; four of failing to enter the required information on the front cover of a record book; and five of aiding and abetting the driver not to return a completed record book.
The driver Peter James Hunt, of 13 Albem Avenue, Fulwood, admitted five offences of failing to return a record book; five of failing to enter up the front cover; 20 of keeping two record books concurrently; 20 of falsifying entries; and four of working excessive hours. Hunt was fined £25 on each of five charges and given a con ditional discharge for months in respect of t others.
