J. D. McGregor has been appointed a director on a full-time basis of the Owen Organisation Integrated Handling Systems as from October 1. Mr. McGregor, who is managing director of Highway Trailers (Great Britain) Ltd., a member company of the Group, was appointed director of 0011-IS in August last year, but combined these duties with those of the trailer company. While still remaining a director of Highway. he is now handing over the executive control of the company to John Herdman-Grant, whose appointment as director and general manager was announced recently. In his new capacity, Mr. McGregor will be based at 00IHS Headquarters, Multiwheeler Works, Southampton.

Joe Potter, British Leyland truck and bus division regional manager in Ulster, has retired. Mr. Potter had held this position since 1961 when he sold his business. J. A. Potters (Belfast) Ltd., to TEfF Thomesons Ltd.

W. D. Jones asks us to point out that he is general manager of Thomas Brothers (Removals) Ltd. Mr. Jones was inadvertently described (CM September 19) as managing director.

R. W. Blackmore has been appointed works engineer, Warwickshire County Council transport repairs department. E. Shardlow has been appointed area engineer. North Western area. BPS Parcels Ltd., in succession to H. Hague, who is retiring, Mr. Shardlow was formeriy Midland area superintendent, Pickfords Ltd.

W. J. Wallace, 61. former general manager of the international manufacturers and aviation division of Castro! Ltd., has been appointed director of sales for Silent Channel Products Ltd. of Huntingdon, H. Reid Jack, of S.M.T. Sales and Service Co. Ltd., has been appointed managing director of the Shaw and Kilburn Motor Group in place of V. G. Blakealey who has resigned.

Ernest S. Brown, director of Brown Brothers Ltd., has retired after 42 years with the company.

OBITUARY

We record with regret the deaths of George Alexander Duff and Arthur Benjamin Griffiths.

Par. Duff, 79, was for many years managing director of Duff and Sons Ltd., removal and haulage contractor, of Wimbledon, which was acquired by Pickfords in 1949 under nationalization. He later re-entered removals under the title of Douglas Dull Ltd. This company was later taken over by Graham Adams Ltd., of New Maiden, Surrey.

Mr. Griffiths. OBE, was for six years director of Kenning Motor Group Ltd, (formerly Kennings Lida, retiring shortly after his 79th birthday in December, 1962.
