Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

From brake testers to spray guns, there is plenty of new kit in our review of products for

the maintenance and repair sector.

Avalco

When a truck is started after a break, especially overnight, there's a fair chance that air pressure in the braking system will have fallen below the safety level, requiring a period of engine running to restore pressure. If the driver is in the habit of leaving the cab during this time to inspect the vehicle, and the park brake is left off, the release of the brakes as pressure builds could cause a potentially disastrous runaway.

Avalco's low-air brake interlock system prevents this scenario by holding the brakes on until the park brake is applied and the system's reset button is pressed for three seconds, at which point a visual indicator turns from red to green. It also provides an audible warning if the driver's door is opened without the park brake being applied.

Hofmann

Having developed the first four-plate brake tester back in the early 1990s, Hofmann takes this technology to the next level with its latest version— the BY 505 4 plate. It includes four friction plates that can be surface-mounted. has a PC workstation with a Dell PC and is • upgradeable to a full test lane.

There's also an axle-weighing option and automatic test programme.

Unlike a traditional roller brake tester, the four-plate set-up is designed to cope with technology such as traction control, viscous drives and electronic 4x4 systems, • Contact: 0118 929 9121 www.ukequipmentgroup.com

Unic

Disposing of used paint cans can be a timeconsuming and hazardous process. To alleviate this problem Unic has come up with a range of paint-can washers suitable for water or solvent-based paints.

Once cleaned, the containers can be disposed of as non-hazardous waste or even sold. Cans of up to 25 litres can be accommodated with a capacity of six at a time.

Both models have a maximum no-load speed of 8,500rpm and include a soft-start feature, meaning the motor drive builds up speed gradually irrespective of trigger depression.
