Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I note that for the second time in as many weeks yet another person is asking hauliers to stick together regarding the fuel protest, saying that any reduction or rebates should be for hauliers only, and that the public should show their anger at the ballot boxes.

He also notes that essential users, ie hauliers yet again, have no choice about paying for fuel, but the public does.

So does he think that the public are all on £50,000-plus a year and don't care what they pay at the pumps? And does he also think that if the public thought the protests were for the hauliers only and not for the public in general they would be sympathetic towards the hauliers when they have no fuel and have to sit in a long line of cars for hours on end to get a limit of DO of fuel per visit?

Does he also think that the public in general would be bothered if it is a foreign haulier like Willi Betz or a British haulier like Eddie Stobart who delivers our food to the supermarkets? I think not!

So. Michael Dodds from the HFA committee, let's stick to the original plan and get fuel duty reduced for everyone, because without public support you're doomed.

Ernie Brooks,

Doncaster.
