Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The average diesel price at the pumps now stands at 100ppl (more than £5 a gallon) in the UK, while the bulk price sits around the 90ppl mark.

Liam Quinn, owner of York-based Quinn Transport Ltd, says: "I use roughly 1,200 to 1,300 litres a week on each of my trucks. The fuel increases have added the equivalent ot another driver's wage to my operating costs, and being a small Operator, we can't simply pass that cost onto our clients because of a highly competitive market."

Geoff Dunning, RUA chief executive, says: "These constant rises can neither be sustained nor justified."
