FIFTY OPERATORS have be made the subject of a £50,C study commissioned by t Greater London Council investigate the likely effects night and weekend lorry bans its area.
The GLC's transport comn tee, with all-party agreement, spending £50,000 by getti consultants Coopers and I brand (who are also conducti British Rail's rail-into-ro study) to establish the effe such bans might have on companies in the area.
The study will examine 1 justification for exemptions a the effects any ban would hE on industry in London. Sam companies have been seleg in co-operation with the Freil Transport Association, Ro Haulage Association and ' London Chamber of Comme and Industry.
Results are to be prepared the crucial committee meetirtc February which will deci whether to go ahead with a b which follows publication of independent Wood Report I summer.
