Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Suspending the only authorized vehicle of W. J. Poole, and Co Ltd, under Section 69, for a period of seven days the Western LA, Mr J. R. C. Samuel-Gibbon, commented last week: "If you entrust your fate to a garage and it lets you down, it is your 0 licence that is in peril not the garage's."

Mr W. E. Hands, managing director, had earlier stated that this vehicle and other small vehicles and plant were inspected, maintained and repaired under contract with a garage at Mark, Somerset. He had been horrified when advised of the stale of the vehicle by the vehicle examiner and had immediately issued warnings and instituted checking systems including drivers' defect reports.

The garage had provided completed FTAtype inspection sheets. The LA commented that the forms produced in court were suitable but he had doubts about the completion details.

Vehicle examiner, Mr Jones, stated that he had inspected the vehicle at the Mark garage and had issued a GV9 with 10 defects, three of which were immediate. He agreed Mr Hands had co-operated in adopting suggestions he had put to him.

Mr Samuel-Gibbon said the company had to take some positive action or the continuation of the licence would be in peril.
