Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A Relic of the Past.

We are indebted to Mr. T. W. Osgood, of Sydney, the Dennis agent, for the photograph of the old horsecoach which is reproduced at the foot of page 231. Mr. Osgood was the pioneer of motor transport on the Glen Innes-Inverell road.

New "Underground" Chief.

Mr. Albert II. Stanley has been appointed managing director of the Metropolitan District Railway Co., and Mr. J. Carter, the late secretary, has been appointed his assistant. The new secretary of the District Railway is Mr. W. E. ). andelick.

To View the "Airmen."

A correspondent suggests the Island of Sheppey as a suitable district for a motorbus service. Shellbeach and Eastchurch are somewhat inaccessible. The absence of any considerable volume of regular traffic would tiece, sitate very-high fares.

Veterans Conveyed by Motorbus.

We reproduce a photograph herewith, which depicts the arrival of a number of Wolseley motorbuses belonging to the L.G.O. Co., Ltd., loaded with Chelsea pensioners, on their way to view the mournful funeral pageant, through London, of his late Majesty, King Edward VII, on Friday last, the 20th instant. Anonymity Barred.

If the writer of the letter dated the 17th irst. and signed with the initials " E.H.W.," on the subject of the con

This company, by the way, has worked at a profit from the outset, although the yield has been small.

Our Traffic Cartoons.

The fifth of our series of cartoons upon familiar phases of London's traffic conditions appears on the next page. Our readers will recognize tho perversion of a striking poster which the enterprising L011don tube companies use with great effect. The original is, of course, by that pre

eminent artist, Mr. John Hassell. It will be remembered by many of our readers that the Metropolitan Police have no authority underground.

New Registration.

Hall and Searle, Ltd., of Gannaway Gate, Norton Lindsey, is the title of a new company which has been registered, with a capital of £4,000, to purchase an "invention of improvements in inner tubes for pneumatic tires." Birmingham and Midland Co.

The report and accounts of the 13irmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., to which we referred briefly in our last issue, were adopted at the fifth annual general meeting of the company last Thursday. Many of the assets have been realised, and with the proceeds it is intended to pay off the whole or part of the first series of debentures. Mr. W. Roberts was reelected a director of the concern.

Turning Out the Horse.

To-day (Thursday) the L.G.O. Co., Ltd., is sending, for the first time. a service of motorbuses into London Bridge station yard. This development probably marks the commencement of the last stage in the complete supersession of the London horse-bus. Service 12-hitherto Turnham Green to Liverpool Street-will now run between Turnham Green and London Bridge. This should be a boon to many would-be passengers from Holborn to the S.E. and Brighton termini across the river ; it is a development whose advisability we have urged on more than one occasion.
