COMPANIES SHOULD start to make the most of older employees, because a Standard Life survey of baby boomers suggests 40% want to continue working on their own terms.
Analysts also believe that post-retirement employment not only helps to keep experience and expertise within businesses, but may help to stave off our growing pension crisis.
As an ageing society, we also need older people to carry on working to alleviate the tax burden on the smaller number of workers in the next generation.
The survey for the financial services company also suggests that the more successful employees are, the more likely they are to want to keep their job or, for 7%, to start their own business in their retirement years.
