Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• From March 2004, operators and drivers will be able to use an Internet-based service which lists key performance indicators for the recruitment and retention of drivers in the UK haulage industry The Respect for People project is being funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) and run by the Training SubGroup of the Road Haulage Forum (CM19-25 June).

Consultants employed with the project will be contacting hauliers and operators of all fleet sizes to establish the main driver-related key performance indicators, including pay and cost per employee, absentee rates, vehicle age within fleets and time lost through accidents.

The industry-wide data will then be available for operators and drivers to view on the website (www.respectforpeople.org) where they can compare their own company performance in key areas inducing fleet size, type of operation and location.
