Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

up to three width settings but, if a seat can't be bolted directly to the floor, Tek's special 2shaped brackets will compensate.

The brackets have a series of boftholes along the flanges to match every cab mounting position, and a suitable set plus full fitting instructions are supplied with every seat package. With It, any competent mechanic will know how to proceed. Always drain the air system and disconnect the pipes before removing the four mounting bolts and lift the seat away from the cab.

Afterwards, examine the mounting points and measure the distances between the holes, to be certain of the configuration. Check too the state of the original bolt threads, the captive nuts in the cab floor and all other fixings.

Make sure that the mounting belts are the correct length; too long and it could foul and not tighten properly, too short a bolt may not provide a full-strength mounting point.

Where possible, always Use the original holes and any modification should only be to the brackets; not to the slide rails or vehicle floor.

There isn't much elbow room around the seat base and tightening down is always difficult, so you need to determine whether to fit the 'Z' brackets to the seat, or to the floor first.

The Ivaco cab's narrow 216mm mounting leaves plenty of space, so you can bolt the Z brackets to the seat base before mounting the assembly onto the cab floor. Cabs such as the Daf 85CF are a little more restrictive and the 15mm difference between the KAB 714 standard seat's slide-rail fixing and the holes in the cab floor means that some of the bolt holes are obscured.

Tek recommends attaching the Z brackets to the floor before lowering the seat onto them, in order to access the intermediate fixing bolts.

Before coupling up the air supply, trim the end of the feed pipe and fit a new press-in connector.

With the engine running, make sure that the seat does self-level and that the dump valve functions. Here, the customer is satisfied with a manual lockout, but test this too.

Importantly, it also has a five-position lumber support designed to bring the backrest into the base of the spine— standard on all Tot replacement seats.

For those prepared to pay for their comfort, consider a Recaro seat. These offer a very wide range of adjustments, but with Its integral compressor, valves and switches, it isn't cheap. At up to £1,500 a time, they tend to be bought by owner-drivers or people with specific problems.
