• An accident-free 59,500 miles during the first three months of 1968 has won drivers of the Pointer Group's Norwich tanker depot £5 each and the Group's Tanker division safe driving shield for the first quarter of the year.
The Group's other safe driving shield, competed for by depots in the General Haulage division, has been won by the Leicester area depot of Hamblin's Haulage Ltd., a member of the Pointer Group. The Leicester drivers won the shield and £5 each by achieving an average of 43,000 miles per accident.
• Announcing record vehicle exports for the first 6 months of 1968, British Leyland Motor Corporation reveals that 17,624 commercial vehicles and 19.169 Land-Rovers were among the total. Claiming that the total figures confirm British Leyland's position as Britain's biggest exporter, the announcement states that total export earnings for the 6 months were E164m.
