T JOHN TRANSPORT has been given permission to base ive vehicles and two trailers at the Old Sanken Building in Abercynon, Mountain Ash, subject to the following conditions: • vehicles authorised to enter the operating centre shall, with the following exception, only be rigid vehicles with a maximum gross plated weight of 26,000 kg; • a maximum of two articulated vehicles with trailers shall be permitted; • all vehicles weighing up to 7.5 tonnes shall enter and exit the operating centre in a forward gear; • wherever possible all vehicles shall enter and exit the operating centre in a forward gear; • whenever the vehicles enter or exit the operating centre in reverse gear they shall be subject to a ground supervision by a banksman; • there shall be no parking of any vehicle within the carriageway of the private access road.

Also, the irm has been given permission for eight vehicles and two trailers at a unit on the Treforest Industrial Estate in Pontypridd, subject to the following undertakings: • maintenance systems, documentation and vehicle inspections will be audited by a reputable independent expert such as a trade association after six months from today, and every six months thereafter. Audit reports will be prepared and acted upon; • the safety inspections will be planned and never more than four weeks apart. The planned maintenance inspection reports will be fully and properly completed, showing rectiications; • authorised vehicles and trailers will have a rolling road brake test every eight weeks.

BULKHAUL HOPES to get approval for seven vehicles and the same number of trailers at the AK Worthington depot in John Gilbert Way, Trafford Park, Manchester.
