A SCANIA-LED research project to develop low-emission engines could be boosted by a €210m (£145m) loan from the European Investment Bank (E1R).
The engine will be designed for improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions in anticipation of increasingly demanding international emissions legislation.
If the EIR approves the loan it will fund 40% of the €520m (£360m) Scania project. which will run until 2007 at its SOdertalje plant near Stockholm following negotiations to choose independent research partners.
