POST-WAR hopes for extending the activities of the Yorkshire Transport Society, by the establishment of branches in various towns were mentioned at the Society's annual meeting, held last week.

Mr. Stanley Scott, hon. secretary. recalled that, during the first two years of the Society's existence, before the war, much pioneer work was done by the organization in encouraging transport employees to take a greater interest 'in transport beyond the particular section to which they were

attached by trade or calling. Five years of war had gravely affected the Society's scope, but its nucleus organization had been able to carry on successfully.

Sight had not been lost of the project to establish branches which would hold both educational. meetings in their own towns and occasionally join in a united meeting for the purpose of. hearing lectures by authorities in transport subjects. Active Membership was being maintained at a steady if restricted level, and the Society's financial posi-tion was satisfactory.

• As is the annual practice, the meeting

decided to give a prize for award at Bradford Technical College to the transport student adjudged o have the best record of progress during the year.
