Before launching its safety truck, Royal Mail conducted an in-depth study of all its RIDDOR data, including road traffic accidents, depot incidents and personal injuries. From that review, it determined that the most significant dangers were falls from the vehicle (17%), 15% involved injuries using the rear roller shutter door, 12% were from slips, trips and falls, and 7% involved coupling and uncoupling incidents. Armed with that information, it asked its suppliers to address those specific risk areas.
