Conference
HEADQUARTERS of the Industrial Transport Association's annual congress will be at the Exchange Hotel, Tithebarn Street, Liverpool. The following programme has been arranged:—
May 16: 1 p.m., luncheon as guests of Insurance Branch, Commercial Motor Users Association, Liverpool; 3 p.m., visit to Speke Airport; 7.30 for 8 p.m., formal opening of conference, when papers on "Transport Planning in the New Age," by Messrs. W. Oldham, C. E. Jordan and J. A. Dunnage, will be read and discussed.
May 17: 9.15 a.m., assembly at Mereey Docks and Harbour Board Office 846
to inspect Mersey Tunnel control rooms, etc.; 10.15 a.m., tour of inspection of the dock estate and Clarence Dock power station; 12.45 p.m., party boards s.s. " Eneas ".for lunch; 2.45 p.m., return to city by motorbus or Liverpool Overhead Railway; 3 p.m., in board room, Chamber of Commerce, papers entitled "More Revolutions Needed on Railways" by Mr. H. R. Caulfield
Giles, and " What Ancillary Users Need from Vehicle Manufacturers," by Mr. G. S. Vicary; 4.15 p.m., assembly at Town Hall for reception by Lord Mayor of Liverpool; 6.30 p.m., reception in the Constitutional Club, India Building, Water Street; 7 p.m., annual dinner.
May 18: 9.30 a.m., annual meeting of national council, board room, Chamber of Commerce; 10 a.m., annual general meeting; 10.30 a.m., paper, " Distributing to the Nation," by Mr. D. A. Elwes; 12 noon, informal lunch at Exchange Hotel; 1 p.m., motorcoach trip through Mersey Tunnel and across the Wirral Peninsula.
