A N application by Reader Bros. Ltd„ of Hull, to switch 10 vehicles from B to A licence was granted by the Yorkshire Licensing Authority, Maj. F. S. Eastwood at Leeds on Tuesday.

For the applicants, Mr. P. Kenny said his clients operated in all some 53 vehicles on both A and B licences. At present 13 vehicles were on at least four separate B licences and were engaged mainly on local _delivery work. In the interests of efficiency his clients wished to transfer the vehicles to their A fleet. Mr. Kenny added that the entire fleet was similar in dimension, size and type.

Mr. George Reader, managing director of Reader Bros., said he wanted to make the change in order to avoid purchasing new vehicles to add to their present fleet. All the vehicles of his A fleet were at present overworked and difficulty had been experienced in keeping up a good standard of maintenance and efficiency.

At the same hearing an application by Brandesburton Haulage Co. Ltd.. also of Hull and a subsidiary of Reader Bros., to switch three vehicles from B to A licence was also granted. Both objectors, British Railways and British Road Services withdrew before the hearing.
