In 1958. British exports of commercial vehicles to Denmark rose in value to C1.040,669 from the 1957 total of 4:800,616, comparable figures for Switzerland being £286,750 and £222382. On the other hand, sales to Norway fell from £662,578 in 1957 to £513.130, and to Portugal from £728,906 to £254,029.

No statistics are given in the book for commercial-vehicle exports to the two other countries interested in the association—Austria and Sweden.

MORE GOODS VEHICLES

THE number of goods vehicles newly registered in June improved upon the May total, which itself represented a postBudget rise, and established the highest monthly level of the year. The accompanying table shows that 134,741 commercial vehicles were registered in the first six months of 1959: this compares with 124,338 for the first half of last year.
