Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Lothian Region Transport's managing director designate, Charles Evans, has taken up the post of president of the Bus and Coach Council (BCC).

As such he becomes the national spokesman for the industry in discussions with the Government, campaigning for a better deal for operators and passengers in public transport; developing the Council's commitment to further improving safety standards on the road and generally raising standards of efficiency and services.

Evans has been a member of the council of the BCC since 1978. He has also been a member of the Scottish Council of the BCC, of which he becomes president in April of next year.
