Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANGRY WELSH operators took to the streets last week in a determined protest against rising fuel costs.

A group of about 30 operators gathered at Cardiff Docks last Friday (19 November) in response to the government's refusal to match the French government's fuel rebates for operators and farmers.

Martin Palmer, owner of Cardiff-based MJ Palmer Transport, who organised the protest, says: "We're stopping the tanker drivers as they come out of the petrol distribution depot and telling them about our concerns.

-There's supposed to be a level playing held on fuel," he adds. But we're paying the highest prices in Europe.

"For every £50 of fuel we put in our tanks we are giving the government £37 in tax," Palmer adds. "We want to show the government that we are not going away and are still united," Another operator who turned out to make his feelings known. Martin Arthur from Arthur Bros. adds that hauliers need to pull together:"It's crippling the haulage industry -we can't pass the extra cost on to our customers.

"If Gordon Brown decides to put the delayed fuel duty rise on next month lam sure the protests will go nationwide."
