III Drivers moving explosives around the country will have to carry Health and Safety Executive permits in their cabs from September next year under the new transfer of Explosives Regulations 1993.
Companies booking a haulier will be responsi ble for obtaining the licences and issuing drivers with copies.
Firms exporting explosives to the Continent will also need permits from European safety authorities.
And from next month hauliers transporting explosives into this country from Europe will need a licence from the HSE for each journey.
An HSE spokesman says: "Drivers must keep copies of the permits in a safe and acces sible place ready for inspection by the authorities."
