Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Several branches of the Transport and General Workers' Union on Tyneside are refusing to handle lorries owned by Lemington haulage contractor Smiles and Co. The union branches have alleged two union members employed by the company have been victimized.

Mr G. Egglestone, a driver with the company, said he had helped to get the firm's 28 drivers to join the union and had presented the company with a pay claim. Shortly afterwards he was dismissed on the grounds of a shortage of work. Another driver, Mr J. Quinn, claimed he was dismissed a few days after being elected a shop steward. He had been accused of negligence with his lorry.

Mr Quinn is taking his case to the Industrial Tribunal claiming unfair dismissal. The company has asked the RHA for advice.
