Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

At the end of last year, Woodall introduced a bonus system for its drivers in order to try to improve the consistency of their performances behind the wheel.

Under the old system, extra money was awarded for such things as keeping a clean driving record and driving efficiently, but Woodall found some drivers were indifferent to this and wanted a rate rise instead. As a result, bonuses are now automatically incorporated into wages, but they are deducted if drivers fail to meet a comprehensive list of standards.

"If any of those [standards] are breached, we will talk to the driver about them and they will take a drop of about 60p an hour," explains Woodall.

"Depending on the severity of the issue, the reduction will last for between a week and a month," he continues.

Woodall goes on to say that the gap between the standard hourly rate paid and the reduced rate will increase when wages are next reviewed.

He says: "We only want people [at Woodall] who do their job properly all of the time."
