Protective coating spray

THE new DCMC Spray 895 is evolved to afford protection against water, mild alkalis and acids, salt spray, sunlight, alcohol and weathering and to combat wear. It provides a tough PVC coating that will not chip, chalk or crack but can, if required, be stripped off.

The coating is particularly suitable for applying to switch gear, cable joints, battery boxes, instrument cases and so on, and is produced in three colours—grey, black and clear.

Made by: DCMC Industrial Aerosols Ltd., 291 Edgware Road, London W2.

Price: 13s. 6d. for 16 oz. container.

Industrial floor sweeper

TT was announced last week that the fork-lift truck distributor, Fred Myers Ltd., has been appointed sole UK distributors for a heavy-duty industrial floor sweeper called the Trash-Vac. The machine is suitable for sweeping garages, car parks and warehouses, and it will pick up any normal workshop waste, sand and gravel and the like.

For the purpose of recovering nuts and bolts and metal waste the unit can be equipped with a magnetic pick-up bar. A 4 h.p., four-stroke petrol or LP gas engine drives a 12.5 in. diameter, sparkproof alloy impeller, and waste is sucked through a 30 in. by 4.5 in. intake. Fitted in the intake is a nylon brush strip to loosen clinging materials. To clean difficult areas, a flexible tube can be fitted to the intake.

The machine is mounted on two pneumatic-tyred wheels and two solid-tyre castor-type wheels, which together provide good manoeuvrability. A 12 cu. ft. bag is available in several different sizes of weave which decides the size of the particles trapped in the bag. The bags are provided with zip-fasteners to facilitate emptying and are washable.

Machines are covered by a full 12-month guarantee and the distributors hold stocks of spare parts and employ factory-trained mechanics.

Marketed by: Fred Myers Ltd., Floor Maintenance Division, Vale Road, Windsor, Berks.

Garage creeper Garage creeper

ANEW garage creeper comes from the Birmingham works of E. F. Allchin and Co. Constructed in oil-resistant hardwood, it has all frame joints mortised and screwed. Instead of the usual four castor wheels, which result in the fitter sliding away from a job that requires heavy spanner effort, the new creeper has only two wheels. This, it is claimed, resists movement except when needed. The two 4 in. diam. wheels are on a fixed axis. A 3 in.-thick washable headrest is fitted and the trolley is hollowed for comfort.

Made by: E. F. Allchin and Co. Ltd., 253 Bordesley Green, Birmingham 9.

Price: £2 17s. 6d. (Trade).

Suspension kit

THE North London company, AEON Products Ltd., is now producing a suspension kit specially designed for use on the Land-Rover. Available for both the 109 in.and 88in.wheelbase vehicles, units are made for normal or heavy-duty suspensions. The two sets are designated No. 42 (530L/65) for personnel carriers and ambulances, and No. 44 (530S/65) for vehicles with heavy-duty suspension which are either permanently or normally fully laden. The units have the full approval of the Rover Co. Ltd.

Comprising two hollow convoluted rubber springs, the Aeons are fitted in the position normally occupied by the rear-axle bumprubbers, forming an effective helper spring. Fitting takes approximately two hours.

Made by: AEON Products (London) Ltd., 11 Northdown Street, London Nl.

Price: £9 15s. per complete set.

Molcage wheels

QUICK-FITTING Bettinson Molcage Wheels made by P. B. Bettinson and Co. Ltd. are attached to the outside of the driving wheels of a vehicle. They can be fitted or removed in a matter of seconds and are claimed to give greater flotation and better traction on bad ground.

The initial modification to wheels on which it is intended to use the Molcages is nothing more complicated than the welding to the wheel rim of three cleats, this job taking no more than a few minutes. With the cleats in position the extra rim is fastened to the wheel by tightening a built-in tommy bar which clamps three legs firmly on to the cleats. By using this system there is no chance of losing loose fittings and rendering the units unserviceable. Marketed by: Raynesway Plant Ltd., Bow Bells House, Bread Street, London EC4.

Price: From £20 per wheel, according to size.
