PAA NEW Wrigley battery-electric forklift truck; known as Model E.650 Mk. II. has been introduced by Wessex
Industries (Poole), Ltd., West Street, Poole, Dorset. Its load rating is 1,250 lb. at 15-in. centres, with a maximum lift of 7 ft. 6 in.
An enclosed 2.3 h.p. series-wound motor provides the power for traction, with a separate motor, direct-coupled to a heavy-duty hydraulic pump, supply ing the power for lifting and tilting. Being only 3 ft. wide and 6 ft. II in. long overall, the truck can be employed in confined spaces and in narrow gangways.
For traction purposes there is a fivestep foot-actuated controller and heavyduty resistance. Power is transmitted by a chain from the motor to an Albion four-speed gearbox with which is incorporated a plate clutch. From the gearbox the drive is taken to a single wheel by a second chain.
The power unit and steering assembly are mounted to permit the truck to turn through an angle of 90' either to the right or left. Safety in lifting, tilting and stacking is enhanced• by the provision of brakes on all three wheels. 1 he driving wheel has a 16-in. by 31-in. solid-rubber tyre. The front wheels also have solid-rubber lyres, the dimensions being 10 in. by 5 in.
