Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

So red and green diesel usage is back on the agenda and, according to your story headed "Customs swoop on green-diesel fleet" (CM 18-24 June), it has been "happening for years".

We all know this of course. But with the Government committed to its fuel duty "escalator" (raising tax on diesel by 6% over inflation each year), the problem is only going to intensify.

The pressure on even the most honest hauliers to cut their overheads at all costs to remain competitive will grow until they are forced to give in to your reported offers of "diesel at 23p/lit".

How many of the major haulage companies dip their subbies' tanks on a regular basis? Or don't they care?

Let's see a show of hands: who is prepared to check subbies are running legally?

Who is prepared to guarantee its fleet is clean? And who is prepared to publicise the sacking of subcontractors found using red (or green) diesel?
