Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

II I was faintly amused by the irony of some of the comments made by Roger Curtis on behalf of the Association of Chief Police Officers in your article on speed trap cameras (CM 18-24 June).

In particular, he states that "we'd feel duty bound to install cameras" on a stretch of the M4 which has been made dangerous by a deteriorating road surface.

He doesn't feel duty bound perhaps to press for the road surface to be improved and repaired? Is it cynical of me to suggest that this is indicative of a distorted sense of priorities on the part of the police? Ian Murray Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
