in London The Roads Task Force (RTF) is recommending trucks be removed from London's roads at peak times. It's one of 13 recommendations, and the report has been welcomed by TfL and London's mayor. I'm pretty sure 99% of hauliers and drivers who have to work in the capital would welcome it too. Who wants to be on London's streets during rush hour?

According to the RTF, cyclists account for 25% of traffic during central London's morning peak, and this figure is only going to increase. The less interaction with two-wheel traffic the better, so far as any sane truck driver is concerned.

But if we're seriously talking about such a ban, then the London Lorry Control Scheme, which restricts the movement of 18-tonne trucks and over during unsociable hours, needs a major overhaul, as do the local council delivery curfews that result in LGVs getting caught up in the rush hour.

The report includes some horrendous case studies of seriously injured cyclists who failed to get the justice they clearly deserved, but it's a pity it doesn't appear to acknowledge responsibility or fault on the part of cyclists for road behaviour, road safety and the prevention of accidents.
