Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Mr. Alan Havard. editor of Commercial Motor until joining the Transport Holding Company as assistant director of freight planning in 1967, has been nominated as chairman of the national organizing committee of the CM-sponsored Lorry Driver of the Year competition. This nomination by the executive committee, and the nomination of Mr. A. E. Teer (of Schweppes) as vice-chairman, will be put to the meeting of the national committee in Coventry on November 4.

Both Mr. Havard and Mr. Teer are longserving members of the executive committee, and Mr. Havard is a former national secretary. Aid. R. W. Brain and Mr. Mervyn Miles, chairman and vice-chairman respectively, have already announced their intention of retiring at the end of the year. Aid. Brain has been chairman since the competition's foundation in Coventry 16 years ago, while Mr. Miles was secretary for 13 years before becoming vice-chairman. At the national finals at Bramcote on September 7 a presentation will be made to Aid. Brain.

At the executive meeting last week it was announced that new centres for eliminating contests in 1970 had been proposed for Bristol, Carlisle, Inverness, Isle of Wight, Norwich. Nottingham. Sheffield. Wolverhampton, and Woolwich.
