rAA NEW pocket-sized handbook, written in simple terms by Mr. R. E. G. Brown, secretary of the London and Home Counties Area of the Traders Road Transport Association, releases C-licensees from all responsibility in compiling instructions on the law for their drivers. Apart from his day-to-day work, which includes an advisory service to members, Mr. Brown has, in the past two -,ears, addressed More than 60 meetings of traders on the legal. aspects of C-licence operation, and has first-hand knowledge of the need for a concise guide on the subject.

Part I deals with regulations regarding C-licence vehicles, including drivers' hours and records, speed limits, maximum gross laden weights and safe loading. Part II is concerned with lighting, towing, utility vehicles

and trailers. Part III covers drivers' general obligations, safety hints, driving offences, prosecutions and penalties.

Part IV gives general driving hints, including a table of stopping distances. Part V is devoted to tyres and their care.
