Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• M Dickerson of Waterbeach has specified a lifting mid-axle conversion on a Volvo FL618

taking its GVW to 22,360kg.

Drinkwater Chassis Engineering fitted the Granning lift axle which allows a payload of almost 15 tonnes in the 9m3 Wilcox front-end tipping body.

"For about £7,000 extra we have a vehicle with a payload almost equivalent to a six-legger with £1,000 less in road fund licence and the running costs of an 18-tonner," says Dickerson's director Mark Davenport.

The vehicle's payload potential will be most useful in the winter periods when smaller loads are more spasmodic. Only when operating well below its new GVW will the vehicle be able to undertake off-road work.
