• Scottish Bus Group is to close its SBG Engineering subsidiary in March with almost 200 redundancies, reducing the number of companies to be sold in the forthcoming SBG privatisation.
When SBGE's Edinburgh and Motherwell workshops close, some staff are expected
to find jobs with other SBG firms. Workshops at Inverness, Kilmarnock and Kirkcaldy will be transferred to local SGB subsidiaries: like other SBGE workshops they originally functioned as central works for local companies, and were transferred to SBG Engineering when it was set up in 1985.
