Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TOTAL turnover for the group last year was a record, Mr. H. W. Sydenttam, chairman of Duple Motor Bodies, Ltd., told shareholders last week. One of the reasons was the inclusion of Willowbrook, Ltd., as a new subsidiary. There had also been a general upward trend in demand throughout the year. Nevertheless, competition in the industry was exceedingly keen.

"Our intentions for our new northern subsidiary have not yet matured," said Mr. Sydenharn. "Our plans are, however, going forward, and the extension of our facilities in the northern area will ultimately be established."

The board's policy was one of cautious expansion as opportunities occurred, without departing too far from the general character of the present activities. The Hendon factory was soon to be extended and improved.
