Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AMEETING of Finsbury Borough Council decided last week to ask the London County Council to review the use of a site in Pentonville Road, King's Cross, as a coach station (see The Commercial Motor last week). It is understood that the permission of the L.C.C., as the planning authority, has not been given to the project, and they have assured Finsbury Council that this will have to be obtained. Park Developments, Ltd., who will operate the new station, would not comment on this development last Friday.

Meanwhile, work continues on the station, which is expected to be ready for use at midnight on December 31.

NEW LONDON COASTAL STATION ANEW coach sub-station is, subject to the approval of the authorities, to be opened early in the New Year in Euston Square, London, by London Coastal Coaches, Ltd. The site is in front of Euston railway station. The new coach station will not be a terminal but will allow passengers to be picked up and set down off the highway.

SEPARATE LICENCE FOR ELECTRICS?

THE Minister of Transport stated in I the House of Commons last week that the issue of a separate driving licence for battery-electric vehicles was tieing considered in connection with the next revision of the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) RegulatiOns, 1950. Mr. Dodds had pointed out dangers which might arise from a driver, tested on a slow battery-electric, transferring to a faster petrol vehicle.

TROLLEYBUS ABANDONMENT TO BE CHECKED?

ECAUSE of the cost of fuel, St.

Helens Transport Department may decide to abandon their policy of replacing trolleybuses by motorbuses. Mr. J. C. Wake, general manager, said last week that running costs would be watched to see how the position developed. There was still five to eight years' life in the overhead equipment.

He proposed that /200,000 be spent to provide covered accommodation for 85 buses now parked in the open at the central bus station. .
