• VOLVO WAGGETT Volvo Truck distributor Manchester Truck & Bus has appointed Peter Waggett as sales manager. He joined the firm in 1987 as area sales executive and has wide experience of virtually all sides of the engineering industry.

• TNT CONTRACT SERVICES W1LLIAMS/KEAN Simon Williams, formerly project assistant with NFT Distribution, is the new business analyst at TNT's retail division.

He will analyse distribution patterns as well as developing new tenders. In anticipation of 1992, TNT has made Helena Kean european marketing executive, responsible for market research on the Continent and liaising with trade organisations in the UK and Europe.

• RICARDO CONSULTING ENGINEERS FOREMAN Sir Philip Foreman will become non-executive director of Ricardo on 1 August. Until recently chairman and managing director of aircraft manufacturer Short Brothers, Foreman is presently chairman of the British Standards Institute. He replaces Sir Hugh Ford, who held the post for 10 years. He joins the Manchester firm from Intertruck and will be based in Fife.

• CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF TRANSPORT PUGH Alastair Pugh has been elected president of the Chartered Institute of Transport, taking office on 1 October.

Pugh's career began on the design staff of de Havilland Aircraft and as a pilot in the RAFVR. After six years on Flight magazine, he moved into airline management and became executive vice-chairman of the British Caledonian Group.

• JOHN DEE GROUP ADDISON/RICHARDSON Paul Addison becomes group financial controller and Breda Richardson takes up a new post of group personnel and training manager at the Durham-based John Dee Group.

Addison moves from the Tom Cowie Group of Sunderland, where he was project accountant.

Richardson will be responsible for all John Dee personnel and training.
